Are you an experienced perioperative Registered Nurse with expertise in anaesthetic nursing? The Orthopaedic Institute (TOI) at Macquarie University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Anaesthetic Registered Nurse to join our expanding surgical team on a permanent part-time basis.

The Orthopaedic Institute brings together over 30 orthopaedic surgeons, a dedicated nursing team, education and research to deliver outstanding surgical outcomes. Due to increasing patient volumes, we are growing our perioperative team to ensure we continue to provide the highest standard of anaesthetic care across our expanding caseload. About the Role

As an Anaesthetic Registered Nurse within The Orthopaedic Institute, you will be responsible for providing safe, skilled anaesthetic nursing care across a diverse range of orthopaedic procedures. Working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will support patients throughout the perioperative journey from pre-operative assessment through induction, maintenance and emergence from anaesthesia.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing comprehensive anaesthetic nursing care including patient assessment, preparation and assistance during induction, maintenance and emergence from anaesthesia
  
• Preparing and checking anaesthetic equipment, medications and airway management devices in accordance with best practice standards
  
• Monitoring and responding to changes in patient condition during anaesthesia, escalating concerns appropriately
  
• Supporting safe patient positioning in collaboration with the surgical team for orthopaedic procedures
  
• Maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with MQ Health policy and professional standards
  
• Contributing to the orientation and support of new team members, students and less experienced staff within the anaesthetic environment
  
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and policy development within the perioperative unit

This is a permanent part-time position with flexibility on hours to suit your availability, discussed at interview. You must have availability across a rotating roster including weekends.

Selection Criteria

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  
• Minimum 2 years' experience in anaesthetic nursing, with experience supporting orthopaedic surgical procedures highly desirable
  
• Sound knowledge of anaesthetic agents, airway management, monitoring equipment and emergency protocols
  
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, exercise independent professional judgement and think critically under pressure
  
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise in a fast-paced theatre environment
  
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster across a variety of shifts, including weekends
  
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work positively within a team
